Human capital is increasingly important for organisations to be competitive. How do you manage employees and teams effectively? Which leadership styles should you use? Familiarise yourself with important theories and research results on these crucial issues to help you make your own decisions as a future manager.
You will apply the latest insights on leadership and management to real-world cases, making sure that you get sufficient practice in analysing and solving issues in a structured manner. Presenting your advice to the company in question makes the assignments extra challenging.
This course gives you the theoretical framework for understanding how to lead and manage people toward organisational success. You will learn what drives individual performance as well as how, when, and why people succeed or fail together in groups and organisations.
This course gives you an insight into current knowledge on leadership. We will focus on the major outcomes of leadership in terms of employee motivation and behaviour and discuss the ethical considerations and requirements for leadership.
We will also cover real-life examples, practical implications and of course in-depth research in leadership. A critical and motivated attitude is key, as we ask for independent as well as interactive participation.
What does it mean to manage people strategically? What choices does this entail? In this course, you will become familiar with up-to-date management theories.
For example: how do organisations gain a competitive advantage through their employees? And what impact does this have on them? Expect interactive sessions in which you participate in discussions, work on case studies and train different managerial skills.
